UMD Talk: Intro to Game Architecture

On Monday, I gave a talk at the University of Maryland on game architecture, aka designing game engines so that they’re stable, maintainable and reusable.  The talk slides (along with their extensive slide notes) are now posted on my site here.  Students from UMD looking for those slides may also be interested in the DC chapter talk I gave about breaking into the industry.  Those slides are available here.

I’ve gotten some great feedback from the talk.  The general consensus is that 1) I talk to fast and 2) there could be a few more examples, especially for things like Model View Controller and some of the patterns I kind of glossed over.  The talk ended up about 15 minutes short, but thankfully we were able to fill the time with questions.

If any UMD students have any more questions for me, or if anyone has comments on the talk, feel free to post a comment or send me an email.  I’ll be happy to respond.
