Interview with Alex Rigopulos

Wired has a great interview with Alex Rigopulos, the CEO of Harmonix, probably my favorite game studio at current (since I’m a huge fan of all things rhythm game related). Aside from all of the interesting discussions on downloadable content and marketing niche games, the small snippet on motivation caught my eye:

Oh and…

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to those who celebrate.
May your days be full of chear and your stockings be full of games.
Oh, and be thankful you’re not spending Christmas on Chiron Beta Prime

New servers, new wordpress

I’ve moved both Jeff On Games and FuzzyBinary to new servers, as well as upgraded Wordpress for both this blog and the ScholarBlog.  If you’re seeing this, it means the server transfer and upgrade went swimmingly.

Wordpress upgrade

I will be upgrading wordpress today. Expect some down time until I work out all the kinks.

Damn You! Be More Bloggy!

It’s apology time!
Darius in the past and Craig more recently have commented about my lack of posts; that I should “by more bloggy” to use Darius’s words. There are a few reasons I haven’t been more bloggy, and I’d like to illuminate them for you.
First, I’ve been extremely busy. Crunch will do that [...]

First Person

I’ve been re-reading a book I read for my thesis, If On a Winter’s Night a Traveler by Italo Calvino, and I’ve found some of the passages that never made it into the thesis, but heavily influenced my current assertion that when playing a game, you are not playing yourself, but a character based in [...]
